Students participate in an intervention block twice a week to ensure they are progressing in basic reading and math skills. Teachers are able to give explicit instruction, allow for practice, and give corrective feedback to a small number of students.
By using visual, auditory and hands-on materials, instructors can meet the different learning styles of individual students. Those students needing even more support gather in small groups or individual tutoring sessions with our resource teachers. Students already making good progress are given more challenging assignments during this time.
Academic Enhancement Program
Our AEP is for middle school students who need to bridge the gap between their academic potential and their academic performance.
This program offers a small group environment where essential academic, cognitive, and organizational skills can be further developed. Students learn to use their strengths and compensate for their weaknesses and to learn to advocate for themselves, so they will be fully prepared for high school.
Students who qualify for the Academic Enhancement Program will attend one 45 minute class, 3 days a week during their regularly scheduled electives.
