Our classroom transforms into a stage for students to apply public speaking and acting tactics and techniques. Book talks provide an opportunity for students to get in front of the classroom and promote a book they recently read. Not only do students learn about books available in our library but also we are creating a community of avid readers.
Madison read Ben Hogan’s Five Lessons: The Modern Fundamentals Of Golf. She captured her audience’s attention by asking a series of reflective questions; namely, “Do you want to try something new,” and “When was the last time you did something that made you happy?” Then, we listened intently as she taught us the difference between grip, stance, and posture learned from the book. She demonstrated with her own golf clubs and gave other students the opportunity to emulate her instruction. At the end, she challenged students to a round of golf.
Madison has won 29 golf medals in the past 3 years. In 3rd and 4th grade, she got her Junior Varsity and Varsity bars. Then, in 5th grade, she earned a letter from Grant County. Last year, she received another Junior Varsity and Varsity bar. Even though she is in middle school, she plays golf for St. Henry High School. We are so proud of your accomplishments!
